Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2004 "Deliverance" Runway Peach Silk Corseted Bias-cut Evening Dress and Capelet
Inspired by Sydney Pollack’s film They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, this legendary collection was staged as a gruelling, theatrical dance marathon at the Cirque d'Hiver in Paris. The garments were explicitly designed to showcase fluid, desperate, and breathtaking movement.
This rare runway ensemble was also worn by Miley Cyrus for her appearance on Seth Meyers. Exquisitely crafted from 100% peach silk, the dress offering a liquid drape that beautifully captures the light. The gown features McQueen’s signature juxtaposition of structure and fluidity: an impeccably engineered internal corset that sculpts the torso, juxtaposed against a romantic, fluid bias-cut skirt that pools elegantly at the feet. Accompanying the dress is the matching sheer peach silk capelet, adding an ethereal, floating layer of movement to the shoulders. This set represents Lee McQueen at the absolute height of his narrative and technical tailoring powers.
